I said no!

So I love it when our clients bring us stuff. It means they love us and don't want to yell at us for silly things. Today one of our clients brought us pizza and cinnamon bread. I love cinnamon bread. This was super hard for me to say no too. The food smelled great, and everyone was eating it and chatting and eating, and I wanted it so bad. But I said no and kept going. Walked by there again, said no again and again and again. It was really hard.
I am very proud of myself for saying no so many times and didn't even give in once for just a little bit of icing. I was very good.
I guess I want the 10 pounds more then I ever thought I did.

This week's weigh in

So today I jumped on the scale, I wasn't at all worried this week. For the past few days, I have been battling a very bad cold, so for like 3 days, I didn't eat. Now, I don't want to lose weight by starving myself and you know me, I get sad and cranky when I am not eating. So even though I was very happy with my results on the scale, I am going to have to work just as hard to keep that weight off and lose more in the next couple of weeks.
Weight loss
-4.7lbs.
Current weight:
165.8 (I am under 170 again!!!)

So what do I do, I go to the movies, but I counted the candy and popcorn I ate once I got home. I didn't even tuck a point under my hat for later. I am still hacking up some green stuff which I hope isn't any part of my lung and get tried by walking across the room (so my exercise routine is a little off) but I am happy that I am closer to my 10 pound goal then ever and this has given me even greater resolve for next week. Of course I am going to need it, cause next week is 4th of July and boy oh do I love to drink on the 4th. Still haven't figured out a survival plan for that, as soon I figure one out, I will let you know.
On other news.
Transformers 2!
Hilarius movie. I mean, I didn't know which was funnier the giant robots beating each other up in Petra which for some reason is right next to the pyramids of Giza. I mean those places are not even a close by a little bit. But hey it's a movie right? I mean after all it did have giant robots in it in the first place. But here is a map. Giza is by Cairo in Egypt and Petra is well, no were near Cairo. More around southern Jordon. I mean really people, buy a freaking map.

Really Really Bad

A letter to a client I "helped" earlier today,
Dear Abusive Lady,
No you dog is not going to die because you made the decision to remove her ovaries. Dogs don't even realize that they have ovaries. If you had kept the E-Collar on your dog, then she would not be licking at her incision. No you can not remove products from the property without paying for them. No the Doctor is not going to perform those services for free, she also has mouths to feed and food to put on the table. We are not a charity. Please stop talking in Spanish to another client next to you while I am trying to talk to you....I am sorry....I didn't catch that...did you just call me a puta? and whatever that word is that sounds an awful lot like cunt. No I am sorry, please take you scanty ass mutt and don't let the door hit your big fat ass on the way out.
Love
Your favorite Receptionist

p.s. Yes, your dog is going to die because you took out its ovaries, we were just lying to you to get all of your money. HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAH

As you can see, I had yet another wonderful and stress free day at work. Sometimes I just want to bang my head with that annoying dot matrix printer.....where is that beer.

Happy Hour Starts at 5pm

That was the text I received yesterday morning, and boy was I ready to party. I love hanging out with my husband's aunt and her neighbors. We open a bottle of wine and talk and talk and talk. At one point we have 3 different conversations at once and boy we are loud. This is usually after our 3rd bottle of wine. Not only did we have some amazing bottles wine, tacos but also an amazing lamb curry that Andi's neighbor Brent made. So I ate and drank and drank some more and this more woke up with a smile on my face.
Granted I drank way past my allowance and snack heavily, yet once again. Are you starting to see a pattern, cause I am falling back into one. What I love about living in Miami is how much more social my husband and I are. We have friends that we hang out with and do silly things with like smoke hookah or just sit around and have a conversation over a couple of drinks. When we were living in Tallahassee many of our friends had moved away after college and the people that stayed with in Tally were few and busy with their own lives. Moving down here last year (omg I have lived here for almost a year!!!) it forced us to go out and be social. Also there is just so much more to do in Miami. I love the fact that I can walk to a movie or just hop ( get it!)and skip to my favorite brew pub Titanic. Sorry I know that was bad.
So yes I do see myself falling back into old patterns and yes I can make up all the excuses I want about going out and having fun, but the real truth is when I step up on the scale and I am going to have to just keep moving on.

Oh no not again

So if you have ever seen the movie "Beerfest" and after the first night of "training" for the beer games, Jay Chandrasenkhar's character "Barry" wakes up naked next to a dead dead with it's throat riped out and blood on his face. He gets up and as he is running away he says, "No, not again." That is how I felt this moving minus the dead deer.
So yesterday work was insane, I was getting yelled at left and right by clients, doctors, just everyone. I was super stressed and talked Phil in to go to Titanic. I know! But I did get a salad and only two beers, but being a little buzzed after those two beers, I just got the biggest idea ever! Let's go to Whole Foods and get more wine and maybe a snack. So after getting two bottles of sparkling Shiraz (a purple bubbly sparkling wine) and a chocolate cake (at least it was organic) and came home. It was super fun night and after eating half the cake (Phil ate some too) and one bottle later, I woke up this am going "Oh not again" but I will go on.
So I worked out for an hour and had a healthy lunch afterwards and very much enjoyed my night of silly debauchery with my husband and will not regret it.

Late Night Snacker

One of my favorite things to do in the evening is to sit back with a glass of wine or beer and a big plate of something junky. One of the best snacks is melted Velveeta cheese with salsa and some sour cream in my very own queso dip. Ok so if you haven't gotton the picture yet, I am in a snacky mood. So I pulled a piece of my 2 point cheddar cheese snack and poured myself a diet coke. Ok it isn't nachos and beer but it is something esle. I keep saying to myself, I don't really need the snacks, I am a better person for it.
But I am still ridculously snacky and it is very hard to move past that.
Anyone esle have nights like that?

My life in Ruins

Ok so not really, but I did just go see that movie and thought it was really cute. I recently read an article about the main actress, Nia Vardalos, who has lost 40lbs talks about peoples obsession with weight, especially in Hollywood. The article found at here made me laugh, because I am too obsessed with my own weight, but at least in a healthy way. Her remarks over female oriented movies made me laugh, I was even thinking about this as I biking (yep, for exercise) this am. In a summer of blockbusters such as Star Trek (loved it!), Wolverine (meh) and Terminator Salvation (shoot me now) I was surprised to see a "chick flick" opening at the theater. I loved My Big Fat Greek Wedding and was very excited to see this movie, the 5 other people in the movie theater including my husband must have thought so too. Of course my husband only went cause I asked him, but he still laughs at all the funny parts. He is a good man. It was campy and cute and having gone and seen many big "action-packed" movies all ready and with many more coming out (Transformers anyone?) It was a nice break in between. I especially enjoyed the portrayal of American Tourists, that never gets old. Of course the best American Tourists ever was in "A Good Year" with Russel Crowe at the French Cafe scene. I laughed so hard I cried at that one.
But alas I am getting off my topic of weight. Today is my weigh in day and after going out last night and having a lovely salad with a light dressing (on the side of course) and....three light beers (I love the beer at Titanic and it was all within my point value) plus my ice cream cone (I walked 2 miles to get that!) I felt a little guilty stepping on the scale (which is my Wii Fit) but was happy to see that I lost a total of 2.4lbs this week!
Current Weight
170.6 (still yikes but not so bad)

I feel better and more resolved and took that attitude with me to the store where I only purchased healthy snacks and I didn't eat that whole bag of popcorn at the movies. At least I don't put butter on it.

So begins my second week and I might have had a couple of slip ups, but it wasn't so bad in the end. I am not going to let that derail me.

Stress Eating

I love Sam Adams Light. I love Sam Adams beer not only because it has great flavor but for what the company represents to big beer. Sam Adams Light is the perfect WW beer for a beer lover like myself. The other "light" or "lite" beers really just taste like water to me, and I drink them like water, but Sam Adams Light still has that flavor and complexity that I am looking for without the extra calories. So here I am drinking my beer and trying to unwind from my, I want to eat everything, day at work.
I work as an receptionist at a local Animal Hospital here in Miami, and if you have never worked as a front desk person to any business you have no idea what you are in for. I think it is harder at an Animal Hospital because the lives of cute little puppies and kittens are in the hands of some people which can be real jerks sometimes, and think that I merely serve the purpose to be a person to which they can be an A-hole too.
After a really hard day I want to snack and binge and eat all my stress away. I am too tried to make food when I come home, so my suggestion is too go eat at my favorite local beer pub "Titanic" and drink my worries away. But I am lucky that my husband is wonderful and decided to cook me dinner tonight so I didn't sabotage myself on my fourth successful day of dieting. And also he bought me a beer told me to sit down and even did the dishes. Isn't he wonderful.
Unwinding is nice.

Frozen Food Explained

So I guess I should give a brief overview of my blog name since I can not do anything but listen to my dogs bark as the plumber rips apart my one bathroom in my little cottage.
This should be pretty simple, I grew up on frozen food and diet coke. All the kids with the home cooked family sit around the tables are so lucky! My dinners were of the lean cusine or some other brand of frozen food, and when I got old enough it also consisted of frozen pizza rolls. My parents worked very hard for everything they did, but that meant a lot of sacrifices at home, including family dinners. The few times we ate together as a family was when we where in NC and dined on our stable of spaghetti or hot dogs. We didn't even drink water or juice. The only thing we had in our fridge was diet coke. It is my drug. I remember one time asking to get some bottle water for a road trip and my father laughing at me. That is just how it goes.
The first time I did WW, I did super well losing 25lbs with my best friend Katie, but I was eating mostly frozen diet meals. I burned myself out. Couldn't even buy a frozen pizza for months after that. So I went and had the real thing and hence were I am now.
So I am trying to do this without burning myself out of the frozen meals. Even now I find myself drifting to the frozen meal section of Publix and shaking my head. The hardest part about this I have no "stop" botton. If I cook, I cook for 10 people because being the youngest of seven children that is how I was taught to cook and I eat enough for 4 people at least. Frozen meals are simple and potioned controled pop in the microwave no tempting leftovers to deal with, but it gets old fast. So another one of my little goals is to cook right and just enough so I don't burn myself out again. Tonight I am going to make Fish and Chips. I know! The horror! You are on a diet I know. But that is what I love about WW, they have all this great recipies that I can use, and it took me forever to learn this, but I love to cook. There are some tempting reasons to find myself barefoot in front of a hot stove with delicious things bubbling up at me. I am so excited to start take my Hospitality cooking classes at FIU in the fall so I can really start cooking, but for now I purchased the WW cookbook and will slowly cook my way though that. I will only eat a frozen meal for lunch and then only 3 times a week. Everything esle will be fresh not from the freezer homemade and yummy.
So maybe I shouldn't have purchased all of those frozen meals....but they were on sale....I am going to go eat some carrots, without the ranch dressing because not only are the better for me that way, but taste (who am I kidding) better too ;-)

Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels.

I hate that saying. Everything taste better then being thin, cause being thin always means eating smalls amounts of vegetables and going, "yummy!" Yuck!
I am an eater. I am not ashamed of that fact.
I love food.
I love going out and finding even better foods.
I love to eat said food.

But...alas...this is my problem...because even though I hate that saying, nothing is as good as feeling healthy and eating right. I know this for a fact, for after a night of hard snacking and drinking, I almost always give myself a dirty look in the mirror the next morning. Now don't get me wrong, I love who I am, but I am different then who I used to be. Instead of wearing cute little outfits, I am opting for the big hippie skirts and the long flower girl shirts.
But I am done with that now.

So begins my adventure, to start being healthy and losing weight, while not eating yucky frozen food.
Here are my top three reasons to lose weight
1. I want to look good in skinny jeans and a tight tank top.
2. I want to be healthy and thus reducing my risk for things such as cancer in the future.
3. I want to have a baby, and know that the chances for me having a healthy pregnancy are better if I have better eating habits and am at a better starting weight.

Here are the top three things that are against me
1. I love food.
2. I love wine and beer.
3. I don't eat vegetables.

I have picked my weapon of choice for my battle against the evil fat monster, WeightWatchers and have started my quest.
My goal! (little steps at first)
To lose 10 pounds by August 11th (my 25th bday)
My starting weight
173 pounds.
YIKES!!!!
I told you I love to eat, just not the right things.

Wish me luck!
